Duration: January 2019 to March 2024

Works undertaken
The Mona Vale Road East upgrade project addresses congestion and improves traffic flow by widening the road from two lanes to four between Lane Cove Road (Ingleside) and Foley Street (Mona Vale). The steep grade and lack of overtaking lanes previously led to long travel times, especially during peak hours.
Key features:
• An additional lane in both directions
• Widened shoulders for cyclists and pedestrians, along with dedicated shared paths
• Bus priority measures to enhance public transport efficiency
• A truck arrestor bed for added safety on steep grades
• Replacement of the roundabout at Ponderosa Parade with a signalised intersection
• Construction of retaining walls up to six meters high and cuttings through sandstone up to sixteen meters high
• Fauna connectivity measures to protect wildlife
Ausling provided two surveillance officers to audit and monitor the project’s progress
These upgrades are designed to improve safety, reduce travel times, and provide better infrastructure for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport users.
