Works undertaken
The Gunnedah Bridge project over the Mungindi Rail Line focused on replacing the existing railway level crossing on New Street with a new road bridge. This significant upgrade involved extensive roadworks, bridge construction, and utility relocations to improve connectivity and traffic flow. The new bridge and its approaches are designed to bypass the Gunnedah Maize Mill, linking the Oxley Highway roundabout south of the railway with the Kamilaroi Highway to the north.
Project Highlights:
• New Bridge Construction: A seven-span, 195-meter-long bridge built over the railway, including necessary works within the ARTC corridor.
Road Upgrades:
• Roundabout Upgrades: Improvement of the existing roundabout at South and View Street and the Oxley Highway.
• Street Upgrades: Upgrading Warranbungle Street at the Kamilaroi Highway and adding a new connection to Barber Street.
• Flood Mitigation: Implementation of flood mitigation measures including levee bank construction and realignment of Blackjack Creek.
• Utility Adjustments: Realignment of a 500mm watermain to accommodate the new infrastructure.

• Project Staffing: Provided a Contract Manager, Project Engineer, and a Surveillance Officer to oversee the project.
